BPI Glitch which caused citizens to lose and gain money: Update


There is a system glitch with BPI online and it autocorrects after 30 minutes. Today June 7 2017, a lot of BPI clients have complained missing amounts of money and unauthorized deductions on their account. Some even said some money were credited to their account and they were able to withdraw it. This went way beyond the 30-minute auto correct issue.

The Bank of the Philippines Islands (BPI) says a major system glitch led to customers being hit by unauthorized money withdrawals and deposits.

The problematic transactions reached up to thousands of pesos. Some users claimed on social media that their accounts had even gone into the red.

BPI chief executive Cezar Consing apologized on Wednesday morning in an interview with a local TV station.

“This is not a hack, this is an internal issue,” he said.

“Over the next few hours, we are making sure the double credits, debits are corrected,” he told ANC.
